Who is Christopher Tripp?

Christopher Tripp is a competitive bodybuilder and personal trainer from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He is working towards gaining his IFBB pro card in 2017 as well as guiding personal training clients through their fitness journeys. Weightlifting has been Christopher’s saving grace, allowing him to overcome a 7 year battle with chronic health issues. He became fully dedicated to the gym and the lifestyle surrounding it.

“I have become a gym rat that loves the overall environment, the people that I come into contact with that I inspire and likewise inspire me to continue to strive for the better, and the feeling of pure exhaustion after pushing myself past my limits. In the last year and a half, I have decided to dedicate myself ferociously to competing in Men’s Physique Bodybuilding at a Nationally Qualified level with the ultimate goal to achieve Professional Status and compete amongst the top tier competitors in the sport.”

Christopher is currently a personal trainer, model, actor, contract accountant and competitive bodybuilder. He trains daily, so there are very few chances for a off day. He loves the cathartic effect that working out in the gym gives him. And he sees the gym as a place he can escape the everyday stresses of the world.

His diet fluctuates depending on whether he is looking to get shredded in time for an upcoming show or if he has time to grow between shows.

In his bulking stages he doesn’t tend to stick with strict or clean eating, but will instead use this time to hit his targeted macros. He also allows himself the freedom of enjoying a good burger or a slice of pizza as long as he knows he’s earned it in the gym. This approach allows him to keep his body and mind fresh before a competitive show.

What Makes Christopher Tick?

What inspires you?

Every day, I am inspired to be the best version of myself and strive towards constant and consistent improvement through sheer effort and determination, which was instilled in me by my first hero and superman, my father. My inner perfectionist and drive for greatness makes me push myself to my limits but all with purpose and direction. Seeing my improvements from competition to competition drives me to work harder in order to be in better shape and better prepared for the next showdown.

What’s your favourite exercise in the gym and why?

My favorite exercise is a Lat Pulldown because of the back growth and V-taper that can be achieved if performed correctly. So many guys focus solely on working muscle groups that they can see in the mirror and that look good, but forget about one of the biggest muscles that really add depth and great shape to your overall physique.

What does a normal daily workout routine look like?

A normal daily workout for me always starts out with a few minutes of some sort of warm-up exercise to get the blood pumping like battle ropes, jumping rope, speed bag or elliptical.

Then, I tend to stick with 3-5 exercises per body part with 3 sets per exercise. I usually tackle two body parts per workout. At the moment, my workout split is:

Day 1: Chest and Triceps
Day 2: Back and Biceps
Day 3: Shoulders and Calves
Day 4: Legs and Abs

I end my workouts with 20-40 minutes of cardio or 5-15 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

My number 1 bodybuilding tip is making sure that you are performing weightlifting movements and techniques correctly. I feel that the importance of using proper form is overlooked by many gym goers. I preach to all of my clients that an inch movement can make a world of difference in isolating the targeted body part. If you want true growth and results, focus on hitting the techniques properly and leave your ego at the door.
